Search

The Central Registry has two fully searchable databases, an Information Database and an Object Database:

Information Search
Search for information using a keyword or phrase. For example, to search for laws, past and present, in Austria, type: Austria laws. 


Object Search
The primary methods of searching are by Artist, Author or Maker, Object or Provenance. The search can be further refined by selecting one or several of the fields below:
 
Artist, Author or Maker
Enter the last name of the artist, author or maker. For example, name: Brueghel, or Meissen. If the first name of an artist is known, enter the first name as well.

Object Information
This allows a search of various aspects of the object, from the type of object to the year or period in which an object was created. If you know the exact date, enter it in the first date box only. If you know the approximate date, enter a date range in both date boxes. If you are searching for Judaica, select the object type from the Judaica dropdown list.

Provenance

This section allows a search of ownership history and information source. Ownership can be searched by current and previous locations, current and previous owners, and date of ownership. The owner could be an individual, an institution or an auction house. If the first name of an owner is known, enter the first name as well. If the owner is a company, enter the full name in the Name field (eg:Thomas Agnew & Sons). If you know the exact date, enter it in the first date box only. If you know the approximate date, enter a date range in both date boxes. In the Source box, enter the name of the data source (eg: OFP, OFP Project).
