Provenance Research on Musical Instruments, Conference, Basel Historical Museum, Switzerland, 17 & 18 October 2024

Events and Conferences
International Conferences

In recent years, provenance research on musical instruments has become increasingly important. This presents provenance research with new challenges.

So far, the institutions have examined instruments, collected data, tracked down archives, and through this work have uncovered a lot of important information. In order to demonstrate, share and discuss knowledge, experiences and challenges related to this group of objects, we would like to motivate you to submit an abstract in which you present your experiences and results to your colleagues and encourage an exchange.

The conference follows an interdisciplinary approach and aims to discuss the different perspectives and approaches in order to support each other. Target groups are provenance researchers, violin makers, musicologists and other specialists, such as instrument dealers and archivists as well as collectors and heirs.
