Op 15 februari 2023 kwamen Susan Lammers, algemeen directeur van de Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed (RCE), en Vera Carasso, directeur van de Museumvereniging, bij elkaar om de overdracht van de projecten Museale Verwervingen te ondertekenen. Hierbij waren onder meer Rudi Ekkart en Pauline Kruseman aanwezig, respectievelijk voorzitter en lid van de onafhankelijke Commissie Museale Verwervingen die inhoudelijk toezicht hield op de kwaliteit en het verloop van het onderzoek.

Museale Verwervingen
In 2009 werden de Nederlandse musea gevraagd de herkomstgeschiedenis van hun collecties te onderzoeken. Het doel was te komen tot een inventarisatie van voorwerpen, waarvan de herkomstgeschiedenis mogelijk verwijst naar roof, confiscatie, gedwongen verkoop of naar andere verdachte omstandigheden die hebben plaatsgevonden vanaf 1933 tot en met het einde van de Tweede Wereldoorlog. De Museumvereniging coördineerde het project, de commissie ‘Museale Verwervingen vanaf 1933’ hield inhoudelijk toezicht en het ministerie van Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap (OCW) bood financiële ondersteuning. De bereidheid van musea om mee te doen was groot. Uit het onderzoek dat 163 musea deden is een inventarisatie gemaakt van 173 objecten, zoals schilderijen en toegepaste kunst, waarbij een vermoeden bestaat dat ze tussen 1933 tot 1945 geroofd, geconfisqueerd of gedwongen verkocht zijn. Op 31 december 2018 kwam formeel het onderzoeksproject tot een einde. Kennis en informatie worden vanaf nu geborgd bij de RCE; het belang van herkomstonderzoek doen blijft onverminderd groot.

Uitbreiding WO2-portal met Museale Verwervingen
De RCE neemt nu de resultaten over van de twee projecten van de Museumvereniging: Museale Verwervingen 1940-1948 en Museale Verwervingen vanaf 1933. Deze resultaten worden toegevoegd aan het WO2-portal van collectienederland.nl, zodat objectinformatie over cultuurgoederen uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog op één plek te vinden is. Dit staat gepland voor 2023. Dat betekent dat de informatie dan niet meer te vinden is op musealeverwervingen.nl.
Aanspreekpunt restitutiebeleid en herkomstonderzoek
Iedereen die op zoek is naar informatie over de Nederlandse Kunstbezit (NK)-collectie en restitutie kan bij de RCE terecht. De RCE is het eerste aanspreekpunt voor mogelijke rechthebbenden en collectiebeheerders over restitutiebeleid, procedures en herkomstonderzoek, met als doel het indienen van een restitutieverzoek te vergemakkelijken. Onderzoekers kunnen advies vragen over het doen van herkomstonderzoek en doorverwezen worden naar beschikbare archieven en organisaties die daarbij behulpzaam kunnen zijn.

The Museum Association coordinated the project, the 'Museum Acquisitions from 1933' committee supervised the content and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) provided financial support. The willingness of museums to participate was great. The research carried out by 163 museums led to an inventory of 173 objects, such as paintings and applied art, which are suspected to have been stolen between 1933 and 1945. confiscated or forcibly sold. On December 31, 2018, the research project formally came to an end. Knowledge and information are now secured at the R.C.E .; the importance of conducting provenance research remains as great as ever.
Expansion WW2 portal with Museum Acquisitions
The RCE is now adopting the results of the Museum Association's two projects: Museum Acquisitions 1940-1948 and Museum Acquisitions from 1933 . These results will be added to the WW2 portal of collectionnederland.nl, so that object information about cultural objects from the Second World War can be found in one place. This is planned for 2023. This means that the information will no longer be available on musealeverwervingen.nl.

Anyone looking for information about the Dutch Art Property (NK) collection and restitution can contact the RCE. The RCE is the first point of contact for potential rightholders and collection managers regarding restitution policy, procedures and provenance research, with the aim of facilitating the submission of a restitution request. Researchers can ask for advice on conducting provenance research and be referred to available archives and organizations that can be of assistance.
