Bernhard Purin

Bernhard Purin, born 1963 in Bregenz (Austria) received a M.A. in Cultural Studies and History from the University of Tübingen. From 1990 to 1995 he was curator of the Jewish Museums in Hohenems and Vienna (Austria) From 1995 he was director of the Jewish Museum of Franconia in Fuerth (Germany). He was designated as the first director of the new Jewish Museum of Munich and took up his post in March 2003. In November 2002, he was elected General Secretary of the European Association of Jewish Museums. His publications include articles and books on Jewish history, Jewish art and looted art.
