7 September 2018 Claim by the heirs of Paul Westheim against the estate of Charlotte Weidler

In the claim, heard by Justice Andrea Masley of the Commercial Division of the State of New York, the heirs of Paul Westheim stated that art left by the art critic and collector Paul Westheim with Charlotte Weidler, an art dealer in Berlin, when he fled Germany in 1933, had been concealed, Weidler's sister filing an affidavit in the 1950s that it had all been destroyed by wartime bombing although this was untrue. However, Justice Masley ruled that a release given by the Westheim family in 1973 prevented the suit proceeding even though the artworks were still then understood to be lost.
