Title
Coe Kerr Gallery Records

Record
Coe Kerr Gallery Records

Description
Elmore Coe Kerr, who had previously been a senior partner of M. Knoedler & Co., founded the Coe Kerr Gallery in 1968 in partnership with the collector, Fred Woolworth. After Coe Kerr passed away unexpectedly in 1973, Warren Adelson joined the Gallery as Director from 1974 to 1990.

The Coe Kerr Gallery originally represented Andrew Wyeth, and later broadened its scope to include 19th and 20th century American artists such as Mary Cassatt, Maurice Prendergast, and John Singer Sargent.  The records consist of files documenting works of art that passed through the Coe Kerr Gallery, arranged alphabetically by artist's last name. Files mainly contain photographs and/or descriptions of the works of art, including provenance information. In rare cases, correspondence, loan agreements, and/or research materials may be found.
