Two German organisations provide extensive art trade and art historical resources with valuable materials from Germany and internationally.

ZADIK, Zentralarchiv des internationalen Kunsthandels, (Central Archive of International Art Dealers) in Cologne was founded by the Bundesverband Deutscher Galerien BVDG (Federal Association of German Galleries) and keeps records and archival material of galleries and art dealers in Europe and the USA. The records include correspondence with artists, business records, material on exhibitions and catalogues.  There is also a library specialising in the history of the art trade, an extensive poster collection, a collection of press articles and an archive on photography.  For further information, click here.

The Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Kunst- und Museumsbibliotheken (Working Group of Art and Museum Libraries) provides a range of resources for locating auction catalogues, art historical literature, sale price indices etc both in Germany and internationally.  The Working Group provides a virtual link between some 230 institutions and includes a link to Art-Guide, the Collection of Art History Internet Resources which provides access to art history websites, such as subject gateways, image databases, search engines and mailing lists. The Collection covers the full range of European medieval, modern, and contemporary art history, and aesthetics. For further information, click here.
