Description
Jacques
Seligmann & Fils, Paris was established by Jacques Seligmann (1858-1923) at
the turn of the nineteenth century. In 1912 he founded in New York Seligmann
& Co. Inc. The two firms were reunitied after World War II. The record
comprises a photographic archive of some 2,400 photographic prints and 1,100
negatives, arranged by stock number. Stock sheets, authentication letters and
other documents accompany the relevant prints. The images of fine and decorative
art from both the New York and Paris galleries include tapestries (c. 200
Gobelins, Beauvais and Aubusson) and porcelain, mostly from Sèvres or Meissen.
