The papers include extensive correspondence, some relating to Birnbaum's position as partner in the art firm Scott & Fowles; also business and financial documents; legal documents; writings by Birnbaum; printed material; photographs of figures in the art world and of artworks; and three audio tapes dictated in 1952- two of the tapes refer to Birnbaum's manuscript book The Last Romantic.
