Kirk Askew (1903-1974) managed the New York branch of the London firm Durlacher Brothers in the 1920s. Durlacher Brothers was established in 1843 by Henry and George Durlacher. In 1937 Askew purchased the business which he ran from New York until c. 1969. His personal papers include correspondence (c. 1943-45) with artists who were represented by the gallery and exhibition catalogues (c. 1928-67).
