Description
The Central Bureau of Restitution was created in Berlin in 1946 to coordinate
claims made to the American, British and Russian zones of the Allied occupation
government. The book published in 1947 records these claims but was soon out
of date. About one third of the objects listed have been restituted, many of
them even before the volumes were published. The book and its subsequent appendixes
contain an introduction, alphabetical index and table of contents in four languages:
French, German, Russian and English. The book includes images and is organized
by medium and by genre of works.
