German/American Provenance Research Exchange Program (PREP) for Museum Professionals, 2017-20

18 October 2016: Established by the Smithsonian in Washington DC, and the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (SPK) in Berlin, together with other institutional partners, PREP is the first systematic, international exchange program for researchers and museum professionals who focus on World War II-era provenance projects.

The primary goal of the three-year program is to create a collaborative network of German and American art museum professionals and of experts in research institutions that support museum work, including curators, provenance researchers, archivists, lawyers, and specialists in digital humanities.

Each year from 2017-2019a cohort of ten German and ten American participants will take part in two week-long exchanges in each country, where they will gain a deeper understanding of World War II-era provenance research resources, develop an international network of colleagues, and share expertise.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (February 5-10) and the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz (SPK) in Berlin (September 24-29) will host the 2017 Exchanges.
