Die Kommission für Provenienzforschung und die Israelitische Kultusgemeinde Wien veranstalten vom 4. – 6. November 2014 in Kooperation eine Konferenz zum Thema Bergung von Kulturgut im Nationalsozialismus: Mythen – Hintergründe – Auswirkungen.

Wir bitten um Verständnis, dass der Besuch der Eröffnungsveranstaltung im Bundeskanzleramt am 4. November, 18.00 Uhr, aus Platzgründen nur mit gesonderter Einladung erfolgen kann.

Als Auftakt zu dieser Veranstaltung wird Dr. Christian Fuhrmeister (München) bereits am 22. Oktober 2014, um 12.30 Uhr im Rahmen der Mittagsgespräche der Kommission für Provenienzforschung zum Thema „Verlagerungs- und Bergungsaktionen der Bestände der neapolitanischen, römischen und florentinischen Museen (1943–1945). Wissensstand und Problemfelder“ sprechen. Dieser Vortrag findet im Dachfoyer des Haus-, Hof- und Staatsarchivs, Minoritenplatz 1, 1010 Wien statt.

Am Abend des 5. November 2014 wird zudem Band 5 der Schriftenreihe der Kommission für Provenienzforschung, „Die Praxis des Sammelns“, herausgegeben von Eva Blimlinger und Heinz Schödl, im Kassensaal der ehemaligen Länderbank, Hohenstaufengasse 3, 1010 Wien, präsentiert werden.

English Translation:

The Austrian Commission for Provenance Research and the Jewish Community Vienna are organising the conference Recovery of Cultural Property under the National Socialism Vienna from 4-6 November 2014.

The focus of the conference is the salvage of artistic and cultural goods during the years 1938-1945 and the impact in the post-war period. The conference is dedicated to the various rescue measures taken by individual museums and institutions and the associated contradictions of the war and post-war period. The findings of the conference will provide an important contribution to ongoing provenance research.

Please note that attending the opening ceremony at the Bundeskanzleramt on 4 November, 6 pm is restricted to invited guests only.

As a prelude to the conference, Dr Christian Fuhrmeister (Munich) will lecture on 22 October 2014 at 12.30 about "Verlagerungs- und Bergungsaktionen der Bestände der neapolitanischen, römischen und florentinischen Museen (1943–1945). Wissensstand und Problemfelder" (Relocation and Recovery of the Collections of the Neapolitan, Roman and Florentine museums (1943- 1945). Standard of Knowledge and Problematics). The lecture will take place in the roof foyer of the Haus-, Hof- und Staatsarchiv, Minoritenplatz 1, 1010 Vienna.

On the evening of 5 November 2014, "Die Praxis des Sammelns", Volume 5 in the publication series of the Commission for Provenance Research, edited by Eva Blimlinger and Heinz Schödl will be presented to the public in the Kassensaal of the former Länderbank, Hohenstaufengasse 3, 1010 Vienna.
