Academy of Sciences and Arts
Description
The Macedonian Assembly established the Macedonian Academy
of Sciences and Arts (MASA) on 22 February 1967 as the highest scholarly,
artistic and scientific institution in the country. MASA is an independent
scientific and artistic institution which co-operates with international
academies. Its objectives range from organising and conducting research, to
assisting in the creation of a national policy for the sciences and arts. The
Academy organises conferences and symposia, and publishes the result of these
events.
Published documents about the confiscation of Jewish property by the
Bulgarian occupation forces in World War II are kept in MASA.
