Research into cultural property missing from the archive
The archive suffered few losses during the Second World War. It has undertaken research which indicates that the Soviet Administration ordered municipal employees to remove archival material from Schloß Wilhelmsburg (Wilhelmsburg Castle) where the archive was located at the time on eleven days between 31 December 1945 and 31 January 1946.  Because the looted material cannot be identified, and the archive's losses are relatively few, a large proportion of the archives removed is thought to have belonged to the Library of the Technische Hoschschule Danzig (Danzig Technical College), which was also stored at the castle in February 1945.
